Xavier (Sterling K. Brown) et Annie quittent enfin Graceland pour mettre le cap sur Atlanta, dans l’épisode 2×04 de Paradise, sur Disney +. Et on remarque que Xavier a une nouvelle veste de style cowboy. Nous avions d’abord pensé à un clin d’œil à Yellowstone dans lequel Luke Grimes et Kevin Costner en portent une semblable.
Mais Coxy, la sympathique cheffe costumière de la série dément.
Non, pas du tout. Xavier quitte Graceland, c’est donc dans le vestiaire d’Elvis qu’il fallait trouver son inspiration. L’idée est venue d’une photo d’Elvis à cheval. Je ne me souviens pas de la marque, ce n’était ni Amazon, ni Etsy, mais il existe sans doute beaucoup de copies.
Cette veste en cuir suédé bicolore avec son empiècement western aux épaules transforme notre héros en véritable cowboy moderne. Un clin d’œil visuel qui pourrait peut-être bien faire de Xavier un « poor lonesome cowboy, a long way from home » alors qu’il s’éloigne de Memphis.

But Coxy, the show’s friendly costume designer, denies it. « Not at all. Xavier is leaving Graceland, so his inspiration had to be found in Elvis’s wardrobe ». The idea therefore came from a photo of Elvis on horseback. « I don’t remember the brand; it wasn’t Amazon or Etsy, but there are probably many copies out there. »
This two-tone suede jacket with its western yoke on the shoulders transforms our hero into a true modern cowboy. A visual nod that might just turn Xavier into a « poor lonesome cowboy, a long way from home » as he distances himself from Memphis.
